10 Days Tour From Tangier to Marrakech

Our 10-day tour from Tangier starts today with a pickup at the appointed time and place. We begin our trip with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea and meet the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel. Just below the cape, there are the Caves of Hercules. This cave has two openings, one to sea and one to land. The sea opening is known as the Map of Africa. There is a belief that the Phonecians created an opening in the shape of Africa when looked at from the sea. Learn the history and take lovely pictures. 

We'll make our way toward Tetouan, The White Dove. Tetouan got that name because of its white-painted buildings. Stop for lunch and have some rest. We leave the white buildings and drive straight to the blue buildings of Chefchaouen City. This latter is famous as the blue pearl of the Rif Mountains.

Chefchaouen is a fascinating town that attracts all its visitors. In the evening, you could have free time to wander through the alleyways of this town to have first contact. Dinner and overnight stay in a local riad.

It's best not to skip Chefchaouen when planning a visit to Morocco. For this reason, we recommend you spend an entire day in this town to gain a deeper insight into its culture. Chefchaouen was founded in 1471 as a small Kasbah (fortress) by Moulay Ali Bin Rashid al-Alami. In medieval times, many Moorish and Jewish people settled here to escape the reconquest of Spain. We start the 10 Days tour from Tangier by visiting the Plaza Uta el-Hammam square. Visit the Kasbah fortress, which features lovely gardens, a small ethnographic museum with a few artifacts, and a small gallery. After breakfast in the riad, we start the 10 Days tour from Tangier by departing Chefchaouen and paving the way toward Volubilis. We will make many stops when crossing Ouazzane and other villages before arriving in Volubilis.

Upon arrival at the site of the Roman ruins, you’ll join a local guide to discover the ancient Roman settlement of Volubilis. This latter is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and was once Rome’s westernmost city. Volubilis provided the Roman Empire with olive oil, grain, and oleander. You can also wander through the ruins to get more marvelous pictures.

Once done, we drive for 30 minutes to arrive at Meknes, the second imperial city we will visit. Meknes was the capital of Morocco under the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail. After lunch, we will visit the magnificent gate of Bab Mansour, El Lehdim Square, and the Royal Stables. We end today’s journey and head straight to Fes. Drop you off at your accommodation.

Founded under the Idrisid rule during the 8th-9th century, Fes consists of two old medina quarters, Fes el Bali and Fes Jdid. Our full-day trip will take you to the best landmarks of Fes. Begin with the magnificent Royal Palace, where you will admire its beautiful golden gates.

Leaving Fes in the morning, we will go through Ifrane city, the Switzerland of Morocco. Not too far from Ifrane, we have another stop in the Cedar forest of Azrou, where the Barbary apes live. This forest is a sporting place to photograph wildness in Morocco.

We will stop for lunch in Midelt, located in the high plains between the Middle Atlas and the High Mountains. Midelt is one of Morocco's principal cities that contains several minerals. After that, we will return on the road through the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying the natural scenery of rivers, mountains, valleys, and fields.

Crossing a short tunnel will drop us in Errachidia, where the Ziz Valley of Tafilalet starts. Here, we will stop to take photos of the panoramic view of that valley. Arrive at Merzouga Sahara Desert. Welcomed and hosted by a mint tea as a Berber traditional way of hospitality.

During this 10-day trip from Tangier to Marrakech, you will ride the camels through the Sand dunes on an unforgettable experience. Once in the camp, you will enjoy many activities such as sandboarding and relish the fascinating sunset. Have a delicious dinner in a Berber tent, and listen to drums music. We will hit the path to Rissani, the origin and birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty. In Rissani, you will see the authentic Moroccan flavor and other colorful souks.

We'll continue our 10-day trip from Tangier towards Tinghir, passing by the oasis towns of Erfoud and Tinejdad. Arrive at the spectacular scenery of Todra Gorges, a series of limestone river canyons with a lovely view. Here, you can walk along the stream and admire the rock walls of the massive mountains with blue sky. The Todga Gorges provides a great chance to take memorable pictures.

Having breakfast in the morning, we start our 10 Days tour from Tangier by driving straight to Ouarzazate via Kelaat M’gouna. The path will lead us along the road of One Thousand Kasbahs.
