Day Trip From Marrakech To Essaouira

Your Essaouira day trip starts from your hotel or riad in Marrakech around 08:30 a.m. We will pass along the Haouz plains to the village of Chichaoua, where you will stop for a coffee before we proceed to Sidi Mokhtar. 

You will pass through an area of argan trees on the way to our destination, where you might see goats climbing the trees. Before proceeding to Essaouira, we will pause and take a few pictures.

The first thing we do when we arrive in Essaouira is go to the harbor, where there is a fishing port and Portuguese fortifications. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, you can still catch the rows of medieval battle cannons aligned in order.

Continue to the medina, where 18th-century fortifications are still in good shape. The important landmark of the medina is La Scala, constructed to fend off foreign attacks from the sea. We proceed to Bab Laalouj, one of Essaouira’s main gates, and the Mellah, the city’s old Jewish Quarter.

Along the road, you will see several galleries, souvenir shops, art galleries, and Thuya wood craft shops aligned in order. You can pick a local cafe for a delectable seafood lunch. We then move to a Kasbah, which is famed for being a military stronghold.

If you enjoy being on the beach, you can stroll along the Mogador’s sandy shore. You can sunbathe while taking in amateur kites or windsurfers. Eventually, travel back to Marrakech in the late afternoon. We end the day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira.
